On the rue du Commerce, you have to look up in order to see the sign for the Café du Commerce. Its entrance is not very large but if you push the door and walk to the end of the corridor, a surprise full of light awaits you. The Café du Commerce is a spectacular brasserie with its patio and two levels of galleries.
This famous brasserie not far from the Eiffel Tower has existed for over 100 years. It has kept its decor from the 20s and 30s.
Despite being a hundred years old, the place is brimming with youthful vitality. The sound that escapes from its walls is that of a restaurant full of life; with its waltz of waiters whose trays are loaded with appetizing specialties navigating the room with its deco pillars, burgundy velvet banquettes and Thonet style chairs beneath the large brass chandeliers with their ball-shaped globes…
We quickly realize that this is a good address. At the Café du Commerce, the waiter regains his role as an essential actor in the brasserie show. We see him passing by with his large trays. And he always has a word or phrase that makes you smile.
The dishes at Café du Commerce are those of a real Parisian brasserie. The products are fresh and the cuisine is homemade. This is true for starters with its hard-boiled eggs mayonnaise, its onion soup or its large and famous Burgundy snails.
It is also true with the dishes like South-West duck confit with parsley potatoes, its steak tartare with homemade fries. For fish lovers, we recommend the fish & chips, tartar sauce or the sea bass fillet on skin a la plancha, white butter, fresh green beans. Among the desserts, alongside the “baba au rhum”, real gourmands will indulge in the Vacherin du Commerce, with whipped creammeringue and vanilla and pistachio ice cream without forgetting the melted chocolate. A real sin of gluttony.
